District Roles

District Treasurer

District Treasurer

The Treasurer will join the District Trustee Board and provide sound financial administration, support and information to the Board in accordance with the Policy, Organisation and Rules of The Scout Association.

The District Treasurer’s Role:

  • Be a trustee of Maidstone West District.
  • Act as treasurer to Maidstone West District Scout Council.
  • Act as treasurer to the District Trustee Board.
  • Work closely with and support the District Chair and District Lead Volunteer.
  • Agree the annual budget for the Scout District.
  • Provide sound administration in respect of the obligations according to POR.
  • Ensure that any financial reports required by the District are submitted on time.
  • Receive all monies on behalf of the Scout District, keep up-to-date accounts of all funds and make payments on the authorisation of the District Trustee Board.
  • Maintain effective communication with the District Trustee Board.
  • Be the lead for the Scout District regarding banking, taxation and audit/examination/scrutiny.
  • Work with the District Trustee Board to attract funding/grants/income/Gift Aid to the District.
  • Ensure compliance with finance regulations.

 

Skills For The Role:

  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Able to think creatively and solve problems.
  • Previous experience of financial management or the role of a Charity Treasurer.
  • Able to analyse financial information effectively.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Ability to summarise financial information for different audiences.
  • Willing to speak one’s mind and listen to the views of others.
  • Able to maintain independent and objective judgement.

Volunteer will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
