St. George’s Day Parade! - 2025
27th April 2025

On Sunday, April 27th, Scouts from the Maidstone West District came together with their counterparts from Maidstone East District for a spectacular St. George’s Day celebration, uniting Scouts of all ages, along with leaders, families, and local residents, in a vibrant display of community spirit.
The event kicked off with a lively and united march, which was a fitting tribute to St. George, the patron saint of Scouting. The procession, brimming with colour and energy, saw Scouts proudly carrying their flags as they made their way through the heart of Maidstone. As they marched, the atmosphere was filled with excitement and pride.
The parade began in Week Street and made its way down the High Street, where the Scouts proudly marched past Maidstone Town Hall. At this point, the familiar command of “eyes left” echoed through the air as the Scouts saluted the Mayor of Maidstone, Cllr John Perry, who had joined the occasion. The Mayor, standing in front of the Town Hall, waved back to the Scouts as they passed by, a moment of mutual respect and celebration.
Continuing the route down to All Saints Church in Mill Street, where a St. George’s Day service was held, the procession was accompanied by the uplifting sounds of a marching band, adding to the sense of occasion and energy. The parade was not only a moment to honour our patron saint, St. George, but also a powerful reminder of the enduring values of Scouting—community, service, and friendship.
The St. George’s Day parade was an inspiring and memorable event for all involved, showcasing the pride and unity of the local Scouting community while celebrating the deep connection between Scouts and the community they belong to.
