Loose (Swiss) Scout Group provides an active programme for 6 to 14 year olds.
The Loose Swiss Scout Group was founded in 1908 by Jack Barcham Green and has a rich history of scouting activity spanning over a century. In the 1930s, the group took part in local camps, leader training, and even international trips, such as a cycling tour to Bruges. Despite the challenges of World War II, the group remained active, with weekly meetings continuing for Cubs and Scouts while many older members were called into military service.
A major turning point came in 1941 when the group purchased its first official headquarters on Pickering Street, converting former farm buildings into a lasting base for scouting. Over the years, the site was expanded and improved to support a growing membership. The group marked its 110th anniversary in 2018, celebrating over a century of adventure, community service, and leadership development for young people in Loose and the surrounding area.
