St. George's Day Celebrations!
26th April 2026

On Saturday 25th April, Maidstone West District Scouts came together with Maidstone East District for their annual St. George’s Day celebrations.
Traditionally, the event has been marked with a parade through the town centre, concluding with a church service at All Saint's Church. However, for 2026, after consultation with young people, it was decided to try something a little different.
This year’s celebrations took the form of a St. George’s Activities Day, held at Lower Grange Farm Activity Centre.
With the sun shining, the event welcomed over 450 young people, from Squirrels through to Explorers, alongside more than 100 adult volunteers. Throughout the day, participants enjoyed a wide range of exciting activities across the site, including rifle shooting, archery, water rockets, body zorbs, Nerf wars, human table football, pedal carts, and much more.
Between activities, groups and units raised their flags and came together to renew their Scout promises, starting with the youngest sections and finishing with the oldest.
Special recognition was also given to adult volunteers who had achieved Long Service Awards, Wood Badges, and the Chief Scout's Commendation for Good Service.
Following the promise renewal ceremony and awards, everyone gathered in the sunshine for a picnic lunch. This provided a fantastic opportunity for young people and adults to catch up with friends, make new ones, and connect with others across the districts.
The day was a great success, offering adventure, fun, and a valuable opportunity for Scouts of all ages to come together and celebrate the true values of Scouting.
